kennedy space center. a million people when it goes in the news this saturday morning, a small plane crashes into a santa cruz medical building killing two people. federal investigators have been on the scene all night. >> reporter: two of the men who survived the capsized boat on a fishing expedition in mexico is expected to arrive here in san jose. >> good morning, we're looking at the embarcadero where it is not foggy right now but we have a cooling trend on the weekend before one last warm day inland. >> i'm sue hall, we got debris in newark and overnight road work that may slow you down. >> the countdown continues for this morning's scheduled launch of the the space shuttle

atlantis despite the forecast of bad weather. it will be the final mission of the space shuttle program. i'm tear tear in for eric thomas. >> i'm kristen sze. >> our top story, federal investigators are trying to figure out what caused a deadly plane crash in santa cruz county shortly after it took off. single-engine plan took off from watsonville airport and slammed into a building next to the watsonville community hospital less than a half mile away. it happened just before 7:30. two people inside the plane were killed. the single-engine 1974 plane is registered out of santa cruz. witnesses say the plane bounced off the pavement and skid through a parking lot before crashing into an administrative office not far from the main building. >> we have never imagined

something like this could happen. the shop pretty big so it could have happened everywhere but we are lucky we weren't out there. >> no one on the ground or the clinic was hurt. the hospital was not impacted by the crash and patient care was not affected. they are investigating the crash. >> more survivors of a fishing vessel that capsized in the waters off of baja california are expected back in the bay area this morning. family members of the seven missing men are still hoping their loved ones will come home, too. nick has more. >> exactly two of those men are expected in san jose but all the families continue to hold out hope. i want you to take a look at this video. 16 fishermen that survived crossed the border headed north to reunite with family and relatives. two drove home together in the truck of a fellow fishermen who

actually died but the truck broke down so they are expected here at the greyhound station. >> what's been going on down there and the areas they have been searching and what kind of obstacles and what he they are facing for but what we are focusing is still trying to get divers down there. >> the survivors were able to provide them with information and also provide the families who are waiting to find out information about their loved ones a bit of information and give some sort, as well. today we're waiting for michael ng and one other person to arrive here at the greyhound station. nick smith, "abc 7 news" report. >> first time. jaycee dugard is speaking publicly. in an exclusive interview with diane sawyer, dugard talks about

patrolling the streets of oakland. officers of the police union have voted overwhelmingly in favor of a new contract requiring them to pay 9% into their pensions in exchange the city promises no police layoffs until the contract expires in 2015. new deal means 22 laid off cops will be re-hired. it will cost officers between $9,000 and is the,000 a year but save the city $65 million over thers in e next four-year. >> we get 22 officers that are unemployed that have no money coming to the family i was hoping to get 44 officers but i'm extremely happy and very proud of our officers. >> police officers are humans, too, and they have real financial situations. so they are digging deep in their own pockets to help out the city. >> the chief says the re-hired officers will be back on the streets by early next month. >> the man san francisco police

say snapped the picasso drawing off an art gallery remained on jail on $5 million bail. they found mike lugo at a friend's apartment in napa. he had the drawing all ready important shipment. it's worth an estimated $200,000. he flew in san francisco and investigators say he stole the drawing the next day. police say surveillance video from a nearby restaurant help crack the case. >> our 48-hour turnaround is another case of unbelievable police work. san francisco chronicle says lugo worked in high end restaurants in new york. >> in texas, a rangers fan fell to his death last night during a game against the oakland a's. the outfielder josh hamilton hit a foul ball and the fan fell 20

feet. he was conscious after the fall and man was saying, please check on my son. i was here with my son. he was taken out of the stadium by paramedics. he went into full cardiac arrest on the way to the hospital. >> labor department is expected to release a june jobs report. unemployment rate for may stood at 9.1%, but a private report indicates businesses hired 157,000 workers last month. we told you about that yesterday. that is more than twice than economists had expected and much higher than jobs added in may. california's unemployment remains the highest in the nation at 11.7%. >> you probably noticed it's friday. the weekend is here. time to really focus on the mike nicco forecast. >> especially this one, mike. >> especially with the changes coming our way, you can see them

developing out to the west, as the trough of low pressure is digging counsel into the ocean and going to steer the cooler air probably starting tomorrow, going to move inland while the bay and coast have been relatively cool compared to those neighborhoods. 62 in fairfield. 61 in antioch. 60 in fremont, everybody else in the 50s. by the afternoon hours, still pretty toasty in the east bay valleys, mid 90s and low to mid-80s, palo alto into the south bay. mid to upper 80s in the north bay valleys. you see low 70s around richmond, oakland, san mateo and san francisco will be around 69 and clouds will hang around the coast, 61 at half moon bay, heading down to monterey bay, clouds and 70 at monterey bay, mid-70s. mid 90s gilroy and morgan hill. here is a look at that weekend forecast, you can see the cooling trend by monday. most areas about 2-10 degrees

into towering redwoods and they are looking at the environment impact the required by federal law caltrain has not responded to the inquiries. >> john davis wrecking company were not at fault for on two previous accidents that was cited in safety records. the company is cooperating with state and federal investigators. the company is waiting to find out why he ignored the lights and gates. five people died in the crash and four lawsuits have been filed against the trucking company. >> san carlos council members are meeting to temporary ban massage parlors from opening until further notice. there has been an increase in applications for massage permits. it may be a change in the california law that allows them

center saw heavy downpours. atlantis mission, the program's 135th final launch marks the end of an era. >> a lot of folks were looking upon this like no other. we're very honored to be a part of it. it all began back in april of 1981. >> and liftoff. >> and when they began with great promise the legacy will be debated for years to come. critics point to cost, $196 billion over four decades, more than twice the projected price tag and it's a risk. 14 astronauts were killed when two of the five shuttles were lost in fiery tragedy and made less than half the flights promised. >> it will be remembered as too expensive to support which is the reasons we can't keep flying forever. >> but there were major scientific achievements and

stunning photos. >> the shuttle mission will last 12 days and include one spacewalk. they will hauling 8,000 pounds of groceries and goods to the crew of the international space station. mike is keeping an eye on it, too. what are the chances of rain. >> i think it's pretty good. i don't think they are going to get it off. lightning capital of the world. you can see the moisture coming in from the south and southeast. there is a little bit of break the next couple of hours but i expect more storms to develop once the heat of the day develops. probable a better chance than not being able to get the shuttle launch them getting to go up for the last time ever. >> let's talk about the fog rolling in. not as prevalent as yesterday morning. it's throughout and mainly along the coast and east bay shore.

it's trying to spill into the east bay valleys. fairfield, livermore, mountain view, low 50s for you, rest of us in the mid to upper 50s until you get to santa rosa at 52 degrees. around the monterey bay and inland, low to mid-50s, less cloudy conditions there. so it's going to be sunny and warm in inland neighborhoods, pretty mild around the bay and at the coast, nothing too taxing as far as heat. more clouds as we drop down to the 50s and cooling trend arrives for all of us tomorrow. for today you can see the cloud cover along the coast at 5:00 this morning, some of it trying to push inland before the magic 9:00 hour before the sun eats the ground and the clouds retreat to the coast by noon and hang out there and break out. we'll see sun along the coast. temperatures are cool in the 60s a lot of 70s to 80s around the bay and 90s confined to the east bay valleys. south bay, we'll have low to

upper 80s from milpitas to campbell, possibly touching 90 around saratoga and los gatos. on the peninsula, 89 in san mateo and low 80s for everybody else. 60s along the coast and few mid-60s around sunset. near 70 in south san francisco, sausalito with low to mid-60s at your beaches and mid to upper 80s in your valleys. we have mid to upper 70s in most neighborhoods, berkeley, richmond low 70s and here you see the widespread low to mid 80 and 90s. >> few lingering clouds, 76 in santa cruz and mid 90s around morgan hill and goal ri. traveling state, an isolated thunderstorm yosemite 90, palm springs at 108. 80 in tahoe. got a game at at&t, mets are in

grown from his own stem cells. he suffers from cancer of the windpipe. the tumor was too large to remove so they used stem cells from the man's hip to grow cells on a manmade windpipe. patient's body did not reject the new windpipe and man says he knew without the transplant he would die. this is considered a landmark achieve. for regenerative medicine. patient no longer has cancer. doctors say he should live a normal life. a north carolina man who has been waiting years for a kidney donor has found one through facebook. david has lived with kidney disease for a decade. in march they set up a facebook page to look for a donor, an old
